WI Dementia Care Project

In partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and a designated group of stakeholders, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Center for Community Development, Engagement and Training (CCDET) has developed dementia care guiding principles for caregivers, providers, and other professionals. These guiding principles are available on the Wisconsin Department of Health Services website and located at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/dementia/gp-home.htm.

Based on these guiding principles, training related to dementia care is now available to numerous audiences. This training is offered primarily online and includes competency evaluations and a certificate of completion process. This training is instrumental in providing quality dementia care through well-trained, competent caregivers.

Upon completing the registration process, it may take up to 2 business days to receive training confirmation. Correspondence regarding the registration process and training access will be sent to you from regstaff@uwosh.edu email. Courses with Final Assessments offer two attempts to pass at 80% or better. Participant will have access to online courses for 6 months.

Additionally, crisis responders, healthcare providers, and other professionals successfully completing the trainings available through UWO CCDET, will be listed on an online registry. This registry will be available to the public and will list individuals trained in dementia care, along with the name of the completed training, completion date(s), and the type of class, online or face to face. This registry does not replace industry standards and regulations for hiring. Processes in hiring must continue to be followed.

Online Refund Policy: The Dementia online training is available to registrants for six months. There are no refunds or cancellations for this training.

Classroom Refund Policy: If you need to cancel your registration, call (920) 424-1071 or email regstaff@uwosh.edu. Notice of cancellation must be made to UWO CCDET seven calendar days prior to the training day. This notification will result in a full refund minus a $25 processing fee per person per training day. (Example: training day is September 12; the last day to cancel and to receive full refund minus the processing fee is on September 5). Your account will be credited. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after the cutoff date; however, substitutions will be allowed at no additional cost.
